5 Signs That You’re Wearing the Wrong Bra Size

Brassieres are undeniably one of the most important things in a woman’s closet. With the right fit, it can make your body look more flattering, improve your posture, and even boost your confidence. However, statistics show that 80 percent of women are wearing the wrong bra size. Fortunately, there are signs that you can check for to determine if you’re wearing the wrong bra size yourself.

  1. The Straps Fall Down Constantly

When this happens, it could be that you just need to tighten them a bit. Since you’ve washed them over and over it’s possible that the straps have stretched out, so adjust them first and see how it fits. If it still slips down your shoulders after you’ve made adjustments, it just means that they’re no longer giving you the support that they should.

  1. The Underwire Pokes Into Your Breast

We all know that our breasts is made up of a mass of delicate tissues, and with that in mind, the last thing you’d want to do is to irritate that part of your body – especially using a metal wire. Your bra’s underwire should sit right on your ribs and align with the middle of your underarm. With this, your breasts will fit completely inside the cups, thus letting your brassiere do its job.

  1. The Straps Dig Into Your Shoulders

Most of the support provided by your bra should come from the band and not the straps. A common mistake most women make is purchasing a bra that’s too wide across, then tightening its straps to make up for the support issue of the undergarment. Remember that wearing straps that are too tight often causes a myriad of problems, and repeatedly wearing it might leave permanent marks on your shoulders.

  1. The Bra Gaps Between Your Breasts

One of the tell-tale that you’re wearing the wrong brassiere size is front-gapping. If the centre gap in the band lifts off your skin, then the cups are too small. The solutions to this is either you move up a cup size or find another bra style with a better fit. You’ll know that you got the right fit if the centre part sits right against your skin.

  1. The Band Isn’t Parallel to the Ground

The band of your bra should be a straight line across your back, parallel to the ground. If the band is curving up, then you likely pulled the straps too tight. It could also mean that your band is too big, and you need to move to a smaller bra size. Determining which of these caused the problem should be easy enough.

Wearing the right bra size is crucial for getting the support that your breasts need. So make sure that you keep these signs in mind to avoid purchasing the wrong size the next time you shop for your undergarments.
